February 1st: Fall In Love With Your Bike

One of the pieces from Affordable Art Thursday "Where It Comes From"

Today is a new month, we all survived 31 days of the New Year and now it's time to flip the page and do it all over again. I did a lot of painting this month which is normal since it's my JOB now. Yesterday I completed my first Affordable Art Thursday mission and offered up 2 paintings for $75 each. They were painted carefully and nicely just as I would paint on my larger works and in reality these should be priced at about $125 for materials and hours that went in it but I wanted to keep the price under $100 at least for these initial ones. The piece up above is still available and this one sold pretty quickly
"Some Grow Up, Some Grow Down" collected by Jessica Wells

I will put all the availables in an online photo album and any would be collectors can purchase at will. Some will be different sizes and price points, all will be high quality paintings in my style. Just a reminder this project helps fund my big summer art show by allowing me to buy materials and TIME to work on the bigger works. It's like Kickstarter but when you donate you walk away with a piece of art along with knowing you're funding a big dream by your support.
Today is installation day at the Texas Theater, I've been hustling over these vinyl records and finally have a little stack ready to hang for the glam themed art show and screening tomorrow night of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. DJ Woodtronic and I will be djing after a fab drag show and it's costume time so let's play dress up! I'll be riding my bike TUCO over to install records this afternoon and I can't wait because I miss my bike something awful. Heres a record that I finished yesterday that sold within seconds of posting
Some of the records have fun glitter added!
I've just about completed all my projects on records, a commission left for a friend and then it's on to canvases!
Be sure to check the TIGERBEE ARTS page on Facebook so you don't miss collecting a piece you might want at an amazing price! Hope to see some of you Saturday night at the show!

Words!

Hello! I haven't blogged since last year. Even writing the word "blog" felt foreign and weird! I have actually been writing stuff on my Patreon account so if you've missed the updates you can sign up for free over there. There is also an option to pay a few dollars a month to help support me as an artist and get "extra" content- in case you are of that mindset and either way- thank you for caring about the art adventures.  I have missed blogging actually. I guess I like to make words, string them together like a pretty necklace and let them live their own expressive life wrapped around me.  Times are different. Times are weird! But I guess you know that. And also times are the same and as old as time. Is it really more terrible than any other time or are we humans just more "connected" to the propaganda and daily bad trip in a way that is insane and unhealthy? Either way I do my best to keep my sanity and I don't believe about 98% of what I s...

Taming the monster

What started as me deciding to spend 30 minutes picking out clothes to donate from my closet .. Turned into about 2 hours of folding t shirts, jeans and deciding winter was far enough away that all sweaters and coats could be packed away. My closet was a walk-in diaster. My cat had lived in it all winter, knocked stuff down, slept on it, fuzzed up clothes and built forts. No lie.  I had been living in the same two pairs of jeans and 5 shirts off my bedroom floor (closet #2 😂). First things first, all the T shirts from OLD JOBS were the first to get put in donation pile. I don't need memories of "that place" and they were all too small, waaay too large or tan/beige/grey ..all the wrong unhappy colors that just say JOB when you look at them. Bye! So that happened yesterday. Major project that still needs work but for now it is peaceful enough to my brain to leave it alone. I have two large loads of laundry to do because my clothes look like...well like a cat has been sleep...

The Age of Upgrade

BIG BATCH OF HAND PAINTED WAX FOR SAN FRANCISCO I wanted to do a  blog about the upgrade I'm doing and why. Because I am an artist and not a business person I have been lax on so many things I shouldn't have been and caused myself a lot of headaches. This was a year of growing pains for my business and days before my birthday I decided my new age of 39 would be one of grand changes. For starters...I'm typing this on an old Android phone. It's the only equipment I have. My old Mac finally gave up the ghost and I can no longer do any graphic designing in Photoshop or even save files. This will need to be upgraded, I need a computer. Let's talk about vinyl though...I started doing the vinyl about 6 years ago and they were pretty basic novice attempts at painting on vinyl. After many experiments, failures and tons of practice... I have brought them into their own. They started as $30 discs and climbed as I got better. I marked everything DOWN to $50 this year...
