Under the Butterscotch Moon


Since this is Art Plunge let's talk about Art today! Featured in the top photo is "PINK MOON BLOSSOM" which was Sold and Collected yesterday! I'm delivering it to it's new lovely collector today.  I'm currently playing with these because I'm training myself in something foreign to me...white space. And also "stop and leave it alone". My work has been getting more and more "MAXIMALISM"....and that's fine....but training yourself to just STOP when its not your tendency is a good lesson in art making too.
The one on the right is "BUTTERSCOTCH MOON" and I'll be putting it on the site today after a few more completion strokes. Allllmost there but not quite. These were originally concepts for a design project that got ditched but I liked them and wanted to salvage my time on them.

I've been concentrating on texture- and have been playing with molding paste mixed with acrylics to get a nice thick stucco kind of feel. I like that these feel like old "walls" with dainty almost watercolorish images. Ive also been digging just letting the brushes personality shine through...if it made an "imperfect" mark SO BE IT. It has its own charm. I'm learning to use the imperfections to my advantage and not overthink, overpaint and line the hell out of everything. Necessary lessons is where I'm at right now!

Addicted

  Well it's official. I am addicted. Luckily to nothing horrible. It was bound to happen. I'm addicted to the morning walk...the endorphins...the serotonin...the "me" time....the solitude....the music pumping in my ears...the nature I see and feeling like I control my day.  I'm usually up before the sun and getting as much mileage as my body allows. Sometimes it's more than others but it's always good. I'm going to add in more sprints here and there as "burst" exercises are better for me than long running sessions.  Yes, even on the weekends I'm out doing it. There is no sleeping in and admittedly I woke up at 2:30am and started having my morning coffee in preparation... Even though I will wait till much later to go out. That's how I know it's an addiction.  Currently on Week 6 and haven't missed a workout or even postponed it. I showed up for myself and made myself a priority every morning. I am proud of that and so much LESS...

Words!

  Hello! I haven't blogged since last year. Even writing the word "blog" felt foreign and weird! I have actually been writing stuff on my Patreon account so if you've missed the updates you can sign up for free over there. There is also an option to pay a few dollars a month to help support me as an artist and get "extra" content- in case you are of that mindset and either way- thank you for caring about the art adventures.  I have missed blogging actually. I guess I like to make words, string them together like a pretty necklace and let them live their own expressive life wrapped around me.  Times are different. Times are weird! Is it really more terrible than any other time or are we humans just more "connected" to the propaganda and daily bad trip in a way that is insane and unhealthy? Shoot for the Stars! Latest painted record featuring Han Solo AVAILABLE ($50) Theres a beautiful rain falling this Friday morning, it's a quiet steady and soft rain. The complete opposite of how it started....loud thunder cracking, waking me up from sleepyland and making my computers blink. Now it's just a little drip drip and quietude. Rain makes primering a no go since I primer outside. I am looking for the perfect large box to spray in, this will ease a lot of trouble with tree detritus landing on a barely sprayed record and wreaking havoc. My house was busy yesterday with order drop off and order pickup and then a graphic design job I was waiting to hear about popped up so I'm officially BUSY for the next two weeks at  least.
