Nature Graffiti

crappy cell phone pics of my latest piece: "Nature Graff 1"

There was NO work in my studio at all and I wasn't going out of 2012 with a bare studio. I had been asked for a few pieces in this style for a local shop so I decided to get moving. The end result was this, it was an idea I had been toying around with before I went bright and rainbow ballistic- tame and elegant but still using my organic Nature shapes. It reminded me a little of the crazy flourishes taggers are so great at- that I suck at. I've always loved graffitti but I wouldn't even know where to begin with that. In any case this is a bit like graff if Nature put it's stamp on something.  My goal is to make these affordable so in order to do that I can't spend 100 hours on them (as Ive been known to do). So I clocked in when I would start painting and clock out when I stopped. When all was said and done this is about 8 hours worth of painting (not counting the priming). So if I wanted to get super serious I could paint one of these a day just as if I were going to work- which in reality I am. It's time to get serious, the holidays are over and my bank account is almost empty. For reals.
So expect a few more of these to come down the pipe and if you're interested in getting one -I said they were super affordable- message me privately.
Tonight, tonight, tonight....a bit of fun! SHOW ME THE MUNNY 3 is finally here and I'm expecting to bump into some friends who also created pieces for the show.

It's going to be fun seeing a whole room full of these guys in different shapes, sizes and personas! I hear if you get there early they are giving away a bunch of freebie stuff so come out and have some fun with TOYS!!! I was very tempted when dropping him off at Atama to....go buy another blank to paint. AAAGGGHHH! I don't need another project right now! :)
Have a great friday! Stick your tongue at someone!

NYAH!!!

Words!

Hello! I haven't blogged since last year. Even writing the word "blog" felt foreign and weird! I have actually been writing stuff on my Patreon account so if you've missed the updates you can sign up for free over there. There is also an option to pay a few dollars a month to help support me as an artist and get "extra" content- in case you are of that mindset and either way- thank you for caring about the art adventures.  I have missed blogging actually. I guess I like to make words, string them together like a pretty necklace and let them live their own expressive life wrapped around me.  Times are different. Times are weird! But I guess you know that. And also times are the same and as old as time. Is it really more terrible than any other time or are we humans just more "connected" to the propaganda and daily bad trip in a way that is insane and unhealthy? Either way I do my best to keep my sanity and I don't believe about 98% of what I s...

Taming the monster

What started as me deciding to spend 30 minutes picking out clothes to donate from my closet .. Turned into about 2 hours of folding t shirts, jeans and deciding winter was far enough away that all sweaters and coats could be packed away. My closet was a walk-in diaster. My cat had lived in it all winter, knocked stuff down, slept on it, fuzzed up clothes and built forts. No lie.  I had been living in the same two pairs of jeans and 5 shirts off my bedroom floor (closet #2 😂). First things first, all the T shirts from OLD JOBS were the first to get put in donation pile. I don't need memories of "that place" and they were all too small, waaay too large or tan/beige/grey ..all the wrong unhappy colors that just say JOB when you look at them. Bye! So that happened yesterday. Major project that still needs work but for now it is peaceful enough to my brain to leave it alone. I have two large loads of laundry to do because my clothes look like...well like a cat has been sleep...

The calm during the storm

Fist Pumps! Cool rainy weather has hit Dallas. Just in time for the opening of the State Fair of Texas and Oktoberfest...which I just happened to be at yesterday by happenstance. Oktoberfest that is, not the Fair. No, I did not have any bier. I did have a fun time walking around between biergartens and weiner dog races in the rain with good company though! I had to drop off my piece "FLOURISH" to a place in McKinney Tx called ORISONS who will be having a gallery walk in a few weeks. There were a lot of people down there for the festivities so they wanted the work to show off to all the traffic. It's been quite a week(end) and I just wanted to pop off a blog to say thanks to everyone who has been supporting by coming to the shows and making purchases and just high fiving me on facebook, etc. THANKS SO MUCH! I've been working my tail off in the studio- that's the part you don't see...but hopefully you can see it in my work when it's done. All the t...
