Monday Monday

Brother Sister project, my brother Erik and I created these records for Mr. Velez

It was a studio lock-down kinda weekend- it was too cold to be outside playing and I had lots of work to do so I knocked out some commission stuff that needed doing.
First up was dogs, dogs , dogs! These are painted on records with acrylic, fun pet portraits for my friend Chuck. (Sioux B is a pretty shy dog)

Buddies! Caspar and Mason on a vinyl record

Then it was on to the Brother Sister project I hadn't had a chance to get to in all the holiday craziness and bronchitis fun. My brother designed out the skull and lettering and did most all the work on the blue disc, I did the red disc using his designs a little more simplified and combined you have our two distinct styles- mines a little sweet and his has a little menace to it- a good sweet n sour combo if you ask me! He excels at that lettering! Today is ship day and I'm excited to get these to their proper homes.
I have been experiencing those horrible pains I get from time to time. They are debilitating. I only hope I am at home when they hit and if I'm not I make a beeline for my house because it is tear wrenching horrible murderous pain that makes me crawl into a ball for for about 45 minutes trying to do deep breathing and praying to the Naproxen God to make it stop NOW. The pains were a reminder that I had atypical cells at my last screening, in 6 months I go back to see if it's developed into something sinister and that my resolution this year was to put HEALTH first. Today it's all about the produce and chopping, steaming and sauteeing veggies and prepping for the weeks meals.
Starting on a David Bowie disc for a customer then it's on to Carol Borland
Gothic beauty...
These along with the stack of glam records I need to paint and I'll be pretty busy all week in the vinyl department. And this is how I start my Monday- with a clear view of all that must be done and a resolve to see it through. Have a great one everybody!

Words!

Hello! I haven't blogged since last year. Even writing the word "blog" felt foreign and weird! I have actually been writing stuff on my Patreon account so if you've missed the updates you can sign up for free over there. There is also an option to pay a few dollars a month to help support me as an artist and get "extra" content- in case you are of that mindset and either way- thank you for caring about the art adventures.  I have missed blogging actually. I guess I like to make words, string them together like a pretty necklace and let them live their own expressive life wrapped around me.  Times are different. Times are weird! But I guess you know that. And also times are the same and as old as time. Is it really more terrible than any other time or are we humans just more "connected" to the propaganda and daily bad trip in a way that is insane and unhealthy? Either way I do my best to keep my sanity and I don't believe about 98% of what I s...

The Age of Upgrade

BIG BATCH OF HAND PAINTED WAX FOR SAN FRANCISCO I wanted to do a  blog about the upgrade I'm doing and why. Because I am an artist and not a business person I have been lax on so many things I shouldn't have been and caused myself a lot of headaches. This was a year of growing pains for my business and days before my birthday I decided my new age of 39 would be one of grand changes. For starters...I'm typing this on an old Android phone. It's the only equipment I have. My old Mac finally gave up the ghost and I can no longer do any graphic designing in Photoshop or even save files. This will need to be upgraded, I need a computer. Let's talk about vinyl though...I started doing the vinyl about 6 years ago and they were pretty basic novice attempts at painting on vinyl. After many experiments, failures and tons of practice... I have brought them into their own. They started as $30 discs and climbed as I got better. I marked everything DOWN to $50 this year...

The calm during the storm

Fist Pumps! Cool rainy weather has hit Dallas. Just in time for the opening of the State Fair of Texas and Oktoberfest...which I just happened to be at yesterday by happenstance. Oktoberfest that is, not the Fair. No, I did not have any bier. I did have a fun time walking around between biergartens and weiner dog races in the rain with good company though! I had to drop off my piece "FLOURISH" to a place in McKinney Tx called ORISONS who will be having a gallery walk in a few weeks. There were a lot of people down there for the festivities so they wanted the work to show off to all the traffic. It's been quite a week(end) and I just wanted to pop off a blog to say thanks to everyone who has been supporting by coming to the shows and making purchases and just high fiving me on facebook, etc. THANKS SO MUCH! I've been working my tail off in the studio- that's the part you don't see...but hopefully you can see it in my work when it's done. All the t...
