Starting Somewhere (a boring health blog)

This is not my smoothie but basically my smoothie. Yesterday was my first day with a protein smoothie breakfast to start the day. And it pretty much kept me full till lunchtime. It was packed with whey protein, blueberries, kale and a dose of canned coconut milk. This is slightly reminding me of my Slim Fast days and shakes for breakfast and lunch. I actually would lose 2 lbs a week on that diet but those shakes are full of sugars and who knows what else. These are much healthier and Slim Fast days were my late 20s and 30s... I was a different woman then. My hormones and body were a different beast 😂
I don't have the chia seeds the recipe calls for to make it more filling but will add flax into today's mix. I obviously need to stock up on more ingredients for these.
My first workout session...pretty much still feeling it and could barely walk yesterday. Squats are NO JOKE. I'm hoping today's workout is not leg related at all or I'll have to push it off for one more day of recovery. I have to go to work today and I need my legs to get me there!
Had a minor snack attack yesterday and ended up eating a granny smith apple with peanut butter and nuts...and ten tiny cheddar flavored rice snacks 🙄 Not bad considering I really wanted some damn Blue Bell icecream I stupidly bought.
This is going to be a work in progress and honing things as I go and eliminating as I need to. I'm listening to my body and chilling when I need to and pushing when I think I can. The whole point is to manage Cortisol...stress hormone...and taking it at my own pace.
I'm in a Metabolic Renewal group and hearing ladies who are older (in worse shape than me )  conquer their workouts and goals gives me hope. Yes I Can Too!
This is a pretty boring blog but in case you were thinking of starting or restarting a health regiment or reset...jump in (again). There's no time like now. It can start with just moving a little more. A little walking. A little stretching. Start small. We all start somewhere. ❤️

  1. I dragged out the calorie counting app Sunday. Would like to lose the covid 5 I gained on top of the Christmas 5 that sits on the I haven't lost this since 55 5. Revving metabolism is key. Is this a fb group ?

  2. Hey there! There is a Facebook group for it but you have to buy the Metabolic t program to get into it. It's my first time doing anything like this. So simple breakdown was for about $45 you get meal plans, workouts and nutrition instry tailored for your hormone type. There are shakes you can buy but I just got my own whey protein powder for those. So far I'm liking it, the workouts are 15 minutes of very targeted exercises designed to rev up your metabolism and kick your "human growth hormone" into gear. Just lost my 1st lb and I've only done 3 days of the progy 🌞

It's the little things...

I will eventually get back to posting about art 😂 but I lost my first pound with just 3 days of dedicating myself to Metabolic Renewal...and this is me playing fast and loose because A. I did not buy their shakes I'm doing my own. So I don't really know their caloric/nutrition value vs mine. B. Getting 10,000 steps a day on my pedometer.... doesn't happen. That's almost two hours of walking a day. I get 8,000 or 9,000 before the Texas heat or work calls it off. C. Haven't followed any of the meal recipes. I've been winging it with good sense. I will get closer to their instructions in time ( like maybe next week) since I paid for it. My body is SORE AF. It's totally getting put through the paces and I'm lucky there are modifications for pudgy newbies like me. But 1st lb down is a good feeling because seeing the scale move down is what I'm after. I'm pretty proud of myself for yesterday in general..did my workout, a walking session THEN WENT ...

Words!

Hello! I haven't blogged since last year. Even writing the word "blog" felt foreign and weird! I have actually been writing stuff on my Patreon account so if you've missed the updates you can sign up for free over there. There is also an option to pay a few dollars a month to help support me as an artist and get "extra" content- in case you are of that mindset and either way- thank you for caring about the art adventures.  I have missed blogging actually. I guess I like to make words, string them together like a pretty necklace and let them live their own expressive life wrapped around me.  Times are different. Times are weird! But I guess you know that. And also times are the same and as old as time. Is it really more terrible than any other time or are we humans just more "connected" to the propaganda and daily bad trip in a way that is insane and unhealthy? Either way I do my best to keep my sanity and I don't believe about 98% of what I s...

One thing leads to another

Sometimes it just takes one little action to get things rolling in the right direction. For me the action was ordering a giant roll of bubble wrap I didn't even have space for and when it arrived I had to figure out where it would live because my cats were already trying to hug it with their teeth and sharp little claws.  Also, why bubble wrap? What for?  I'm a big believer in taking some sort of action, big or small to make yourself move in a certain direction. I also believe in productive manifesting and the bubble wrap symbolized shipping. Shipping art out. Shipping lots of art out. Shipping out so much art I was justified in living with a big roll of bubble wrap for awhile!  So step one: order the bubble wrap and step two was the fun task of... Making a place for it to live. So manifesting was already happening and I decided I needed a designated area for shipping supplies and hell.. My printer needed a proper home too. I had a very messy shelf with an old printer on ...
